supporting a tender
Tollway project — Clifton provided communications services to a consortium of companies bidding to government for the right to build and operate a controversial $2 billion infrastructure project in Victoria. The services included government and community relations advice, media advice and liaison, product development advice and general communications support for the bid team, including media releases, speeches, presentations and organisation of community events and contacts. Clifton's principal goal was to help the bidder position itself favourably with government and key stakeholders such as local councils and unions, gather intelligence from within government circles and establish a fruitful dialogue with the media. The bid was successful.
Government tenancy – a leading commercial property developer was seeking a large government tenancy commitment so construction of a proposed city office tower could proceed. Within an extremely tight timeframe, Clifton developed comprehensive tender documents as well as a plan to position the tender, including with government. The plan included media relations, marketing and community relations. The bid was successful and the office tower is now complete. The company has since engaged Clifton to prepare other tenders.
Forestry operations — when a State Government decided to privatise its commercial forestry operation, a US-based insurance company asked Clifton for help. They wanted assistance in winning the bid and then in managing the takeover of the operation if they were successful. Clifton developed a plan to position them as the preferred bidder, including research, discreet lobbying and developing appropriate positive messages. Our client won the bid and Clifton successfully managed the transition with both employees and local communities when the new management assumed control.
