The Clifton Group hosts an occasional series of informal workshops on important current issues affecting Melbourne.
As promised Tony Shepherd was our guest in June 2010. Tony pioneered PPP delivery in Australia and has a solid understanding of the benefits and challenges presented by PPP projects. Tony discussed winning projects in Victoria and future infrastructure opportunities.

Our guest in April 2010 was Nick Reece - State Secretary and Campaign Director of the ALP. Nick is responsible for campaign preparation, party administration, platform development and setting the strategic direction for the ALP in Victoria.
Our guest in November 2009 was to be Tony Shepherd, chairman of Transfield Services and ConnectEast . Unfortunately at the last minute Tony was unable to attend.
Yvonne Von Hartel, principal of award winning design firm Peck Von Hartel, presented in Tony's place. Yvonne spoke about the design of the Victorian Desalination Plant (VDP).
Tony Shepherd has rescheduled for June 2010. Tony will discuss the PPP process and what the future might bring in the light of the success with the VDP in a very difficult market.
Our guest for August 2009 was Rob Adams AM, Melbourne City Council Director of City Design and Urban Environment. Rob spoke about the 6% city – a strategy to transform 6% of the Metro Area to accommodate up to 3.3 million people without sub dividing any further land.
In April 2009 our guest was Yehudi Blacher, Secretary of the Department of Planning and Community Development. Yehudi discussed the ideas and ideals behind planning for the challenges now facing Melbourne as it grows, and grows!
Our guest in February 2009 was Jim Betts - Secretary of the Department of Transport. Jim discussed "The Transport Challenges for 2009"
In November 2008 our guest was Helen Silver - Secretary of the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Helen spoke about the issues facing her Department and the public service generally.
Our guest in October 2008 was Professor John Stanley who gave his views on transport solutions for a larger Melbourne.
